Restroom Trailers, ADA Units and Hand Wash Stations on the Tech's Job Card
Not every stop is a row of Standard units on a gravel pad. A modern porta potty company runs a mix: flushing units for nicer events, ADA units that have to be placed with care, hand wash stations on every food event and job site, crane units on high-rise construction, and restroom trailers for weddings and VIP areas. Each one changes what the tech loads and how long the stop takes.
The Unit Type Is on Every Card
Events tend to mix unit types more than any other job, as covered in Event Jobs in the Porta Potty Driver App: Weekend Drops, Extra Pump-Outs and Pulls. In PortaPottyBossPro, each job lists its units by type, quantity and unit numbers, under the address on the office lists and on the tech's phone. The types are:
- Standard
- Deluxe Flushing
- ADA Accessible
- High-Rise / Crane
- Hand Wash Station
- Restroom Trailer
When the tech reads the day's cards at the yard, they can see which stops need extra supplies or extra time before leaving.
Deluxe Flushing Units
Flushing units have a fresh water tank and usually a nicer interior. Service takes longer: pump, clean, refill the fresh water, and check the flush works. The tech needs water on the truck. Seeing "2 Deluxe Flushing" on a card tells them to plan for it.
ADA Accessible Units
ADA units are larger and need a level spot with clear access. Placement notes matter more here than anywhere else: the unit should be on a firm, level surface, near an accessible path, with nothing blocking the door. On delivery, the tech checks the spot and takes a placement photo that shows the approach. On service days, the tech checks that nothing has been stacked in front of it since the last visit.
Hand Wash Stations
Hand wash stations need water, soap and paper towels. They are often paired with Standard units on food events and job sites. A card that shows "4 Standard, 2 Hand Wash Station" tells the tech to load extra supplies. A hand wash station that runs dry generates a complaint as fast as a full toilet.
High-Rise / Crane Units
High-rise units go up on building floors by crane. Service and pickup often depend on the site's schedule and the crane. Site notes should say who to contact and when the units can be reached. If a high-rise unit cannot be serviced because it is on a floor the tech cannot get to, that is a skip with a clear reason, and the office talks to the super.
Restroom Trailers
Restroom trailers are their own category: towing, leveling, hooking up to water or power if needed, and a more detailed clean. They are often on weddings, VIP areas and long-term job site offices. The card's unit line tells the tech it is a trailer stop, and the notes should cover hookups, the contact on site and any time windows. Plan more time and expect the customer to care a lot about how it looks.
Loading the Truck Right
Unit types on the cards turn the day's route into a supply list. Before rolling out, a quick scan of the route answers:
- How much fresh water do I need for flushing units and hand wash stations?
- How much soap, towels and paper?
- Do any stops need a trailer hitch or special equipment?
- Are any stops on a high-rise that needs a crane window?
A tech who finds out at the site that they needed fresh water drives back to the yard. A tech who read the cards at 6:30 does not.
Billing by Type
Different unit types usually carry different rental and service prices. Because the type is on the job, the invoice reflects what was actually out there. Rental tracking applies the same way: delivered date, picked-up date, days included and a per-day rate after that, with extra rental days added automatically. For how the tech's Complete tap starts that billing, see Getting Paid at Completion: Card on File and Invoices From the Driver App.
Photos Matter More on Premium Units
Customers paying for a restroom trailer or flushing units have higher expectations. A photo of the clean interior after service is worth taking every time. If something is damaged or a fixture is broken, a photo and a note get it to the office so it is fixed before the next rental.
The Short Version
Every unit type on every card tells the tech what to load, how long to plan and what to check. For more on the tech's job cards, visit the PortaPottyBossPro driver and tech app page.
