Event Jobs in the Porta Potty Driver App: Weekend Drops, Extra Pump-Outs and Pulls

Event work is a different animal from weekly construction service. A wedding, a 5K, a county fair, a church picnic and a music festival might all land on the same weekend. Every one has a hard start time, a customer who is stressed about a hundred other things, and grounds that look nothing like a construction site. The driver app keeps each one straight.

Three Jobs, Not One

An owner-operator learns to plan event weekends the night before, as covered in The Owner-Operator's Porta Potty App: Pumping, Dispatching and Billing From One Phone. A crew does the same thing at a bigger scale. Most events break into three kinds of jobs, and each one is its own job on the board:

Because each is its own job, each shows up on the tech's phone with its own units, placement notes and contacts. The Monday pickup tech does not need to remember what the Friday delivery tech did. It is on the card.

Friday Deliveries

Event deliveries stack up at the end of the week. The dispatcher puts them on the board, auto-routes them, and drags any time-sensitive drop to the top. A wedding where the planner wants units in place before the tent crew arrives goes first.

On each card, the tech sees unit types and quantities. Events often mix types: Standards for guests, an ADA Accessible unit, a few Hand Wash Stations, maybe a Restroom Trailer for the wedding party. Seeing the mix before loading at the yard keeps the tech from arriving one unit short.

Placement on Event Grounds

Event placement is about people, not crews. Placement notes might say "Bank of six Standards and two Hand Wash Stations along the tree line, 50 feet from the food trucks, ADA unit at the end nearest the paved path." The tech sets them as described and takes placement photos.

Organizers often change their minds on site. If the planner asks for the units to move, the tech moves them, notes it on the job, and takes a new photo. That way the pickup tech finds them on Monday.

Extra Pump-Outs During the Event

Multi-day events need service in the middle. Those are extra pump-outs, added as their own jobs. The tech arrives early, before the crowd, or at a time the organizer sets. The site notes should say which entrance service vehicles use and who the contact is on the grounds.

Automatic texts matter a lot here. An organizer who gets an on-the-way text can have someone meet the truck at the service gate and clear a path. Customers can also request service from the customer app if the units fill faster than planned.

Monday Pickups

After the event, pickups come due. The tech sees the unit numbers to pull, which matters at big events where units may have been dragged around the grounds. Placement notes and the delivery photos help find them. Pickup photos show the grounds left clear.

Completing the pickup closes the rental. If the event customer kept units longer than the days included, extra rental days bill automatically.

Getting Paid for Event Work

Event customers are often one-time renters, so card on file at sign-up is the cleanest way to get paid. Website sign-ups capture the card with the form, and one click turns the sign-up into a client. When the tech completes each event job, the invoice is created and the card can be charged. No chasing a wedding planner for a check three weeks later.

Weekend Staffing

Event weekends often pull in part-time help. With personal PINs, a part-timer logs in on their own phone and sees only their assigned jobs, and their hours go on the time clock. The training for a part-timer is the same short rhythm as any new tech, covered in Training a New Porta Potty Driver on the App in One Ride-Along.

After the Season

Events tend to come back year after year. The site notes, placement notes and photos from this year's festival are the starting point for next year's. When the organizer calls next spring, the office already knows where the service gate is and where the units went.

The Short Version

Delivery, extra pump-outs and pickup as separate jobs, placement notes for crowded grounds, photos when things move, and texts for organizers. For more on the tech's side, visit the PortaPottyBossPro driver and tech app page.
