Portable Toilet Rental Software in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK

Not every portable toilet company is in the United States, and not every customer calls them porta potties. In Canada you'll hear porta potty and portable toilet; in the UK and Australia, portaloo or portable toilet hire. Whatever you call it, the work is the same. Employees, PINs, Trucks and the Time Clock covered setting up your crew. This article covers running PortaPottyBossPro outside the US.

Where It Works

PortaPottyBossPro works in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK. The core of the software, the Waiting List, the dispatch board, units on every job, rental tracking, the driver app, the customer app and billing, works the same way in all of them.

Billing in Your Customers' Currency

The most important difference across countries is money. PortaPottyBossPro bills customers in their own currency. A company in Ontario bills in Canadian dollars; a company in Queensland bills in Australian dollars; a company in Yorkshire bills in pounds. Customers see invoices and pay online in the currency they actually use.

Sales tax per site works the same way it does in the US: each site carries its own tax, which matters anywhere tax differs by location.

Addresses and the Map

The Waiting List map and the dispatch board work from your sites' addresses. Enter addresses the way they're used locally, including postcodes, and the map places the pins. Auto-routing Closest First or Furthest First from the yard works the same anywhere.

Rural sites anywhere can be tricky to find from an address alone: a farm gate a kilometre past the mailbox, a festival field with no street number. Placement notes and gate and access notes fill that gap. Describe how the truck gets in and where the units sit, and the driver's card carries that to every visit.

Hire, Rental and the Words You Use

Your customers may say hire rather than rental. The software's rental tracking works the same: a delivered date, a picked-up date, the days included in the hire and a per-day rate after that. The lists show how long units have been out and how many days are extra, and the extra days go on the invoice automatically. Name your services in your service list the way your customers talk, and that's what they see on estimates and invoices.

The same goes for your estimates. Write them in your customers' language and currency, spell out the hire period and what each extra day costs, and let the customer approve online. When the approved estimate becomes scheduled services, the terms they agreed to are the terms the software bills.

Unit Types Translate

The unit types cover what portable toilet companies rent almost everywhere: Standard, Deluxe Flushing, ADA Accessible, High-Rise or Crane, Hand Wash Station and Restroom Trailer. Outside the US, ADA is a US term; many companies use that type for their accessible units and describe them in their own terms on estimates and placement notes.

Texting

Two-way texting and automated alerts work the same way: the night before, when the customer is next on the route, and when the tech arrives, plus "on the way" and "arrived" texts from the driver app. Plans include a monthly text allowance of 500, 1,000 or 2,000 segments sent plus received. Before relying on texting heavily, set up texting for your account and confirm it covers your customers' phone numbers.

The Driver App and Customer App

The driver app runs in the phone's browser on iPhone and Android, so there's nothing to source locally. The customer app works the same way for your customers, with the live route map, service requests, invoices, card on file and alerts.

Time zones matter for a company spread across a big country. Alerts the night before and the timing of reminders should follow your local day, so set your account up with the right location from the start and check a few test alerts during the trial.

Construction and Events Look the Same

Construction sites in Calgary and Brisbane need weekly service just like construction sites in Dallas. Festivals in Auckland need deliveries, service during the event and pickups just like festivals in Ohio. Monthly accounts give contractors one statement covering every site, labeled by address, wherever they are.
